MCR Carly

Carly demonstrates a proud statuesque conformation and beautifully fine black fleece with great coverage, staple length and density. Her 2006 staple length was 5.5 inches for only 11 months growth! Our shearer, Ken Jones from New Zealand, commented that it was very impressive. She has a thick, bushy topnotch and incredible furry ears. She is currently bred to Snowmass Cassanova's Desert Rose, a Rose Gray, and is due in October 2007. She took on the first try as a maiden. Desert Rose is a son of the remarkable Snowmass Casanova. Snowmass Casanova was named 2003 Herdsire of the year and his son, Snowmass Nova, won that title in 2005. No father/son combo has ever attained that incredible distinction. UPDATE - Carly delivered a large medium silver grey female. Little Silver is very dense with exceptional bundling and coverage over the ends of her tippy toes. NO SPOTS anywhere. Her first shearing yielded a staple length of 6.5 inches! Her first show is this Nov. 2009. See more about Little Silver below. Carly was a great first time mom and was rebred to our herdsire Neekita. UPDATE - Carly did it again. ANOTHER grey cria. That's 2 for 2 - from a true black! This time a male, but what a striking, little man. Bassett has VERY tight bundling, no spots and the large bone structure of his dad. A very short muzzle with a big block head topped off by thick black rings around his eyes make him the one farm visitors point out first. Another cria from Carly with remarkable coverage and extrteme staple lenght. Bassett had a staple length of 4 inches at 8 months of age. Bassett joins our show string this Nov 2009. Carly has been rebred to Neekita for another Nov. cria. See Bassett on the boy's page.

Ophelia

Ophelia is a truly remarkable, bay black young lady. Exhibiting intense bundling coupled with extreme crimp and shine, she grows a coat with a 6 inch staple length. The picture on the left shows the remainder after shearing -the huge "cuff" she sports on her neck. Ophelia has an adorable face with huge brown eyes, a short muzzle and a thick, bushy topnotch. The self appointed ambassador of the female herd, she is the first to greet you at feeding time, generally by racing up to you and skidding to a stop near your feet - sometimes on top of them. Following you around during poop scooping to grab your hair or shirt, Ophelia is a definately not the shy one. A great favorite with ranch visitors because of this outgoing personality and outstanding appearance.
